This book did contain some helpful information about migraines, and some helpful tips for coping with them. However, some things in the book seemed surprisingly outdated for a book which came out so recently. For example, the book uses the language of “classic migraine” and “common migraine,” instead of the current language of migraine with or without aura. Such lapses made me wonder if the author was up to date on other information or not. This is not a bad book, but there are better books available.

Managing Migraines: Dealing with migraines from all perspectives … something to help each sufferer

This awesome book is full of useful information that has made such a positive difference to my life. This is the sort of information we should get from our doctors and health care providers- and sadly we aren’t. It is sad that such grass-roots, good, down-to-earth, easy-to-follow advice is only now made available to migraine sufferers. I wish I had been made aware of all these options a long time ago. I could have stopped my pain so much sooner. Every migraine sufferer should own this book. Thank you for making this amazing information available to us migraine sufferers to reduce our pain at long last!!!

Managing Migraines: Dealing with migraines from all perspectives … something to help each sufferer

I have suffered from migraines all my life and never managed to get them completely under control. A friend gave me this amazing book and it has truly changed my life as well as that of many of my patients. As a family practitioner I was never made aware of the full scope of migraine treatments available on the market. Being a trained medic the default prescription is medication. But this book has shown me that medicine is only one of the many alternatives to managing migraines. I started changing my lifestyle, as pointed out in this book and tried some of the alternative remedies. Currently I am taking Omega 3 capsules and within 2 weeks I noticed a remarkable change. I have not had a migraine in over 7 months, which is a huge improvement in my quality of life. I don’t know why I never tried this route before.

What this book does, is emphasize the advice you would get from your doctor or homeopath or pharmacist or nutritionist, but elaborates on it in layman’s terms and in a manner that is very understanding and empathetic towards the reader. It is clear that the author suffers from migraines, because of her compassionate writing style.

I always have a copy or two on hand in my practice now, to lend to migraine sufferers. Not every patient wants to take heavy medication to cure their migraines. I have found that starting a patient on lifestyle changes and a healthy regimen to begin with often makes a significant difference. I ask them to keep a migraine diary as described in the book and this helps me to help them. Sometimes, of course, medication is necessary, but this book objectively advises the reader on how to take the medicines to derive maximum benefit. I am very impressed by the author’s in-depth knowledge of medication, supplements and other remedies. This is a book that will provide solutions to every sufferer- whether you like to take medicines, or natural remedies, or try alternatives such as reflexology/ acupuncture etc. Managing Migraines furthermore emphasizes that not every remedy will work for every sufferer. This is something that most practitioners could learn from. It is a sad fact that migraines are one of the most under diagnosed and therefore inadequately treated conditions. Get this book and take charge of your migraines.

This book should be available in every family practice! It changed my life. It changed the quality of life for many of my patients and I’m sure it will be of help to every sufferer out there. Get a copy- you will not regret it.

I bought Managing Migraines about 6 months ago, when I was getting up to 10 migraines a month. This book has changed my life! I now get only about 1 migraine every few months and feel like a new person. In my job I can’t afford to keep taking sick leave for migraines. I never knew about all my treatment options and got so stressed about not knowing what else to do. I am now no longer taking the heavy prescription medicines I was on for so long without much improvement, but am using various natural methods- a combination of vitamins and supplements, reflexology (awesome!) and have changed a few things in my lifestyle- cut out some migraine triggers (I never knew some of the factors affected migraines, so this was a huge eye-opener for me). I now keep presciption painkillers on hand just in case I get a bad one, but haven’t needed to use much of them at all. This book is a must for all migraine sufferers. It feels as though the author is speaking straight to you in language you can understand and with guidelines that are so easy to follow. And: there are so many options- medicines, as well as natural! I wish I’d known all of this a long time ago. No one ever gave me the full picture. I have leant this book to quite a few of my friends who also get migraines and they’ve all landed up buying their own copies. Thank you. This kind of unbiased information should have been made available to us a long time ago.

Managing Migraines: Dealing with migraines from all perspectives … something to help each sufferer

This book is going to be my companion for some time to come! The immense wealth of information in it will bring me closer to finally determining my personal trigger factors and then choosing the most effective treatment for me especially with the help of the migraine diary - clever idea that is! The author managed to speak in a language which anybody can understand and the huge number of treatment alternatives plus her in-depth information on specific needs must surely be one of the most comprehensive books on migraines I have come across in my long battle with this debilitating affliction. Without a doubt knowledgeably written by a sufferer for sufferers! Another point I find very convincing and appealing is the fact that the author is in no way trying to sell a specific product line as so often is the case with other treatments advertised and which makes me always wonder. I feel immensely relieved to have help at hand at long last! Highly recommended my fellow sufferers!!
